What DMVFW Stands For

DMV Fashion Week is a bi annual fashion week and was created to give designers and fashion show organizers the opportunity to showcase their new collections and shows ahead of the new season when they will become available for purchase. DMVFW will starting from 20/20 will take place in March and October every year.

This allows buyers, bloggers and editors to see what brands have planned for next season which influences the trend that you will see in magazines, stores and websites. DMV Fashion Week incorporates runway-to-retail business model which enables shoppers to make purchases from the new collections immediately after the fashion each show thereby capitalizing on the buff from the shows.

DMVFW is preceded by New York, London, Milan and Paris with opening night on Thursday normally Cocktail mixers, official DMVFW Show will start on Fridays and will run up to Tuesday depending on other show organizers. The majority of shows take place across the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia corridors. DMV Fashion Week will follow the industry standards set forth by the Big Four – NYFW, London FW, Paris FW and Milan FW.

Some of the DMVFW is an invite-only event, meaning that it’s closed off to the public. However, DMV Fashion Week Shows, are ticketed events that gives fashionistas the opportunity to attend runway shows and seminars.

Industry buyers, editors, bloggers will make up most of the audience at shows during DMV Fashion Week, giving the designers the opportunity to showcase their collections directly to the decision makers. There will be musical performances from renowned artists as well as aspiring artists with some celebrities in attendance.

The essence of DMV Fashion Week is to promote the cultural diversity of the DMV area. Boasting of the local designers as well as designers from all the USA, Europe, The West Indies, The Continent of Africa and Asia.
